Trend Alert: Gussied Up Old-Hollywood Style

Retro gowns inspired by the gorgeous frock Jackie Kennedy wore on her wedding day seem to be popping up all over the blogosphere. Because of this trend, brides are choosing to wear their grandmother’s broach along with their own vintage finds. And instead of the usual floor-length wedding dress, brides are also going for shorter options like tea length. If you are thinking about an old-Hollywood-style affair, here are a few of the trends that may inspire the glam goddess in you:

  • Hats make a comeback: Instead of the traditional veil, hats and birdcage veils are hitting the aisle. If you want to personalize the look, think about adding embellishments like feathers, jewels, and flowers to add a stylish spin on an old favorite.
  • Sleek silhouettes: Creamy fabrics like silk and charmeuse are the “it” fabrics. Want 50’s style? Choose a gown with a fitted bodice and full A-line skirt.
  • Pinned-up hair: To get the glam look, waves and pin curls are a must. If you don’t want an up do, loose locks like Rita’s Hayworth’s mane is also a lovely option.
